“architecture enriches lives”

Established in 1991 as Britain's first independent architecture centre, The Architecture Foundation has organised hundreds of public exhibitions, design initiatives, competitions and debates in venues across Britain and internationally.
Championing a sustainable, ecological and inclusive approach to contemporary architecture,
urbanism and culture, The Architecture Foundation has spearheaded a number of high profile initiatives to influence debate and policy making about the built environment.
“Oikos” (pronounced ee-kos) is the root word of economy and ecology and is the title of a major
project that saw the building of a contemporary theatre completely from recycled and reclaimed materials. Visitors to the Festival will be invited to donate materials for the build of 'The Jelly Fish Theatre' and were also able to give a helping hand in the construction process with Martin Kaltwasser. The theatre will remain in Southwark and will be programmed with a series of plays focusing on climate change and our present society especially commissioned, produced and directed by the Red Room.
For further information, including play listings, please visit the Oikos Project website.
The Architecture Foundation have a number of diverse projects running – all of which challenge the status quo and aim to redefine our approach to the built environment.
